Yanmar 2qm20h

We recently became the proud owners of a Columbia 34 mk2. Unfortunately the original atomic four engine was seized. We replaced it with a yanmar 2qm20h diesel but we're having a really hard time finding a vdrive transmission that I can use with it. Is there a model or make that I can work with? I've tried contacting yanmar but they're not really helpful. Any comments would be welcome!!

Re: Yanmar 2qm20h

HI there. The QM series is a very dated engine as you may well know. We had a 3qm and the primary reason we replaced it was the lack or replacement for the gear box. I did find someone in the states that was willing to make a adapted bell housing for the engine but the cost was considerable when factoring in the new gearbox. I can look up the email of the business that was willing to do that for us if you want me to. We factored in the time, wight and cost of spares for the 3qm and made the judgement that we where better off buying a new beta. We where in panama so we didn't have to pay import dutys and the pound was very weak, bought direct shipped to panama for the 35 $7100 with spares and a few other things.
