Yanmar 3GM30F wet exhaust

What is the internal structure (water routing) of the Yanmar 3GM30F exhaust gooseneck. Externally it looks like the raw water injects on the engine side where the water would run back into the exhaust valves. Is there an internal passage?

Yes there is an internal passage for the raw water that exits on the other side of the U near the hose connection. That is there to cool the U bend.

Issues are, the water passage and 90 degree external elbow can lime up over 400-500 hours or less. Plus carbon can build up in the exhaust side. Not a bad idea to inspect it every 200-300 hours.

These engines are all high speed diesels, they typically run at RPMs above 2800 to 3000.
Great picture by the way, mist great to show what exactly happens to these exhaust elbows.
