Yanmar 3YM30

...can someone please help me with an idea for a very temporary replacement of the seawater drain plug of a yanmar 3YM30 diesel engine. Thanks

It is probably a BSP thread or a metric thread however a cork and some electrical or duct tape will work. There is next to no pressure in the sea water circuit.

Could you substitute a section of heater hose for the whole run ??

Benjamin, did you use a cork cork? or one of the plastic ones? For big plugs, champagne corks work well, and still wine corks for littler ones. Ime, we whittle the ends a little, and make sure you drive or screw it in farther than the whittled part.

I'm asking because we've (over the years) had very good luck using cork corks, and I wouldn't trust one of the plastic ones.

If you just have a threaded hole in the pipe or a broken off drain tap, try putting a 1” square of insertion rubber over the hole and then hold it in place with a hose clamp.
