Yanmar 3YM30 Engine Mounts

Hi, one of the engine mounts on my 2010 Beneteau 35 First is corroded, due to a leak from the raw water strainer. See the Rusty Mount pic and Clean Mount pics for comparision. I plan to remove the rusty bolt, treat the mounting plate with rust converter and install a new bolt and washer. I'm worried about what might happen when I remove the bolt. If it is only held in place by a nut under the fibreglass plate, I might lose the nut inside the mount and be unable to secure the bolt again. If there is some kind of threaded fixing under the fibreglass for bolt to attach to, I should be ok. Does anybody have experience of replacing engine mount bolts and can you advice me ? It seems to me that there must be some kind of threaded base to secure the weight of the engine, but I wish to avoid any nasty surprises. Thanks for your help and, before you ask, yes I will find and rectify the leak !

If there is wood under the fibreglass they might be just coach bolts?

Nope…… it’s a terdious process but you can do it. Soak the bolt with a light oil to assist and slowly remove. Use your hand at the end to secure the nut. And if it falls off just get a new one……

Re: Yanmar 3YM30 Engine Mounts

The engine sits on 2 fibreglass 'beams' which are about 7cm square in section. Obviously, they're not solid fibreglass so I think they may well be encapsulated wood. So the fasteners probably are coachbolts, which should make removing, sourcing and replacing the rusty bolt quite easy. It will be a few days before I can check this out but I will post the result. In the meantime, thank you both for your help.

Yup, ignore the speculation and get the FACTS on how that mount is secured.

Several good ways, but you need to know how they did it on YOUR boat.

I do not have a Beneteau but always curious about issues that may become "my issue"

I googled for the owner's group

https://groups.google.com/g/beneteau...m/vbd99sfpAgAJ

you can see the risk of going "blind"

just saying
