Yanmar 55 repower

This site has been very helpful to me as I have recently discovered problems with my W 4-108 that have convinced me to repower. While cranking at anchor, the wind started gusting causing the low fuel tank to allow the engine to suck some air into the system. Well, since then it seems all types of issues have surfaced, such as injectors testing low, all cylinders testing about 60% of minimum compression and possibly some HP pump problems. We are in Vero Beach, FL and I have a good contact to do the job in Ft. Lauderdale, so my first problem is to get the 4-108 running again to make the trip. I have had the injectors rebuilt, hoping that this will solve the current 4-108 issues. What's interesting is that I am very scheduled with all my maintenence, got 250,000-300,000 miles out of last two autos. The 4-108 was rebuilt in 1997 when we purchased the boat. It had 5400 hours on it. It now has less than 3000 hours, so I am at a loss as to why the compression is so low.

In any event, if anyone has any suggestions, tips, etc on getting the 4-108 running again I would be grateful.

Secondly, if there are any Shannon 38 owners out there who have repowered with the Yanmar 55, I would be interested in the project and how it progressed.

Thanks,

L.A.
