I have a newer IP440, and it is a pain the change the oil filter and the impeller. I believe the problem largely lies with IP's design of the engin compartment. I would have happily given up a couple of inches of cabin space to facilitate engine servicing. The first time I changed my impeller, it took me almost 3.5 hours and bloodied extremities. I am getting better at it though.
