Yanmar Pump Rebuild

Hello all,

So Johnson water pump">raw water pump from my 3GM30F was leaking quite a bit, so I purchased the rebuild kit from Depco. I called to inquire if the bearings require grease, but the reply I received did not sound 100% certain. They did say no, but is that correct? No grease for the bearings?

If anyone has any great tips to make this rebuild easier, please share.

Modern sealed ball bearings, so no grease can be added.

6200 or 6202 series if memory serves.

Re: Yanmar Pump Rebuild

Some of these pumps have brass screws which hold the plate onto the pump body. I have had problems with them corroding in and twisting off so now replace the screws with small SS bolts. I use overlong bolts onto which I put a nut and washer and then bottom out the bolts. I then tighten down the nuts. If the bolts corrode into the housing I cut their heads off using a Dremel and leave them in the housing as studs.
