Yanmar Repower: electronic controls needed

I’m in the middle of a repower from a Volvo penta to a yanmar 4JH110 electronic engine.

Because of the helm layout, I need to use electronic controls…. The Yanmar VC20.

But Yanmar is hopelessly out of stock with supply chain problems and simply does not know when they will have inventory.

I need something ASAP as we are stuck on anchor. Located in St Maarten.

Do you know where I can get a VC20 control system… new or used?

Or how to use the Volvo Penta system.

We need electronic throttle and also electronic shifting.

Thoughts?

As a suggestion, try phoning Volvo Penta dealers directly, asking for help. One may have the component you need, perhaps new, possibly second hand. And you might well have tried this already so I'm not trying to tell you how to suck eggs.

But the following screen will assist with details of dealers. Puerto Rice is relatively near you and there are quite a few businesses on the island. I'd have someone fluent in Spanish help me write an email to send them (or phone perhaps).

Re: Yanmar Repower: electronic controls needed

Thank you! I have struggled with Volvo in regards to getting service and information. This is one of the main reasons for repowering to Yanmar.

The best scenario would be if I could find a Yanmar VC20 control for sale…. New or even used.

Meanwhile, I want to figure out how to operate the Yanmar electronic engine manually…. Even on a temporary basis until we can get the proper controls.
