Yanmar SD50

Hi all
The Yanmar SD50 saildrive allows for the draining of the gear oil by attaching an adaptor plug into the oil changing plug and hand pumping the oil out. Does anyone know whether it is possible to push a tube down into the saildrive and use a hand vacuum pump to empty the oil as I've previously done with the engine oil?
