Yanmar temperature sensor

Good morning all. Haven't been here in awhile. Hope all is well.
I have a Y2GMF buried deep in the belly of my Bristol 32. Great little motor. Lately, it has developed some electrical issues. To start with, the water temperature gauge is pegged at full hot whenever the system is turned on. i.e. if you turn the switch to on, it registers full hot even before you press the starter on a cold engine.
Headed onto the boat today, where I will clean the connectors as best I can, but the engine is NOT very accessible. I also have a charging circuit issue, but that's another story... If you have any ideas about this, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
