Ysm8 timing: manual shows (p 3/11) timing at T[D. It also says elsewhere 25d bTDC. I have both marks on the flywheel. Which one am I looking for?

Got me just in time as going to sea for a month or 2 tomorrow,
Get your injector line to squirt at the 25o BTDC mark. The manual has one or two mistakes.
Truth to tell it doesn't make a lot of difference if it's at 15oBTDC which I THINK is another mark on our flywheel.It was set at that when I stripped it.
The yse 8 specs are 15oBTDC but it has a different injection pump.
Timing shouldn't change unless you have changed something internally.
Ours is set at the 25o BTDC mark & runs as sweet as.

I was diagnosing a problem-still am--and broke and then replaced the injector pump. Runs, but I figured the new pump might need different shims.
Typical problem--runs 15 minutes then bogs/dies. I have done many of the suggestions in various posts, a few more to try, so no need to go over all those now.
Where you headed? I'm in spanish wells, Bahamas.

I'm heading to Great Barrier Island off New Zealand coast but boat is in Auckland so it's coastal cruising to points North but no schedule.
Sounds like fuel starvation or air leak. Ours can run for 10 mins + with fuel tap off.

I'm back on dirt now so online if you have any more questions. I have one for you if you don't mind. How did you break your injection pump?
From the symptoms you describe I'd say it's either fuel starvation or an air leak. Hopefully you have solved the problem since it was nearly 11 weeks ago.
