ZF10M clutch plates

I have rebuilt the Hurth 50 gearbox on my boat in 1984. I have replaced it with used ZF10 in 2017. After getting something caught in the prop going up a river recently, the forward gear became intermittent. The ATF had turned black. Time to rebuild again. Only thing, the rebuilt kit with clutch plates and seals is now anywhere from $600 to Euro900 on the internet. (To say nothing of the Catalina website advertising a new ZF10M gearbox for $4900). The kit almost what a new gearbox was in the old days. Now, few vendors sell individual clutch plates, steel and bronze, and I can save a lot of I just replace the clutch plates on the forward gear (4 bronze, 3 stainless steel). The reverse still works well.
Anyone can offer an informed advice or, per chance, anyone has few of the parts laying around? I need four 3304 304 040 and three 3304 304 021 for ZF10M or Hurth 100.
Thanks, Stan

Re: ZF10M clutch plates

A few years ago I replaced my HBW50 trans with a NewAge PRM60. Bought it from ASAP Supplies in the UK, was less than $500US. It's a drop in replacement, the only difference is the control lever is on the opposite side. It has a cone clutch instead of the Hurth/ZF plate clutch which is much more durable.

Re: ZF10M clutch plates

Thanks capt jgw, I researched similar gearbox, TwinDisc brand, when I was looking for replacement gearbox in 2013. The shifter on the port side killed it, there is hull there on my boat, a shoe horn fit, no room.
