After investing 6 years in this restoration project I need to give it up. Exceptional build and interior. Good engine. Needs some welding but hull seems solid. Bellingham WA

Well I'm not interested as I am building one of my own.

Are you trying to sell the yacht? Do you have photos? What are you asking if you want to sell it?

Re: 1978 BR Mauritius 43

I have hundreds of photos and a couple of surveys. I just posted some in an album on my profile.
I have followed some of your posts and wish you the best.
I had planned to donate the boat to the US Sailing JBBS (Junior Big Boat Sailing) program but things have changed and I'm getting old. Would consider partnership.
The interior joinery is truly first rate. Red Oak floors still in great shape. I am open to anything.
In need of complete paint job and some welding (not structural)
50K would probably finish her off. Ideal windlass. Lots of great equipment. In need of some welding and definitely needs to be painted. Original builder knew what he was doing.
I actually have seven years and 100K in the boat but, of course, we all know that means nothing.
On hard now. Lehman 2711e in great shape that i have been running fresh water through on the hard. 550 gallons fuel. Fuel transfer/filter system. Dockside heater, diesel heater etc.

WOW! That looks fantastic!

I certainly do hope you can come to a mutually satisfying agreement with someone who is prepared to help finish it off.

Good luck

Thanks. I have my doubts. Still lots of work to be done but I'm willing to work for nothing to get her done. Needs to be moved inside since the rainy season will begin soon in Bellingham.

To shelter my yacht before the deck was complete I used a very heavy tarpaulin over the whole hull.

The tarpaulin came from Co-op Bulk Handling who used it to cover stockpiles of grain (wheat?) for export. Of course once they got a few small leaks they were disposed of at a cost of $100. (My tarp was about 30 m X 30 m and very heavy)

I'll finish the berth under the center cockpit today and next week start lifting the ballast in.

I know building a yacht to your (and mine) standard is quite daunting but we must do one job at a time. Never ever make a list of "things to do"!

Mithril

If you can afford it get a tradesman to do mechanical, gas fitting and electrical work. They will do it in a fraction of the time that we would take.

If you haven't installed the toilet don't even think about the the traditional "head". That demands two thru hull fittings, an anti-siphon loop, a waste tank and two pumps. A compost toilet is the way to go.

Re: 1978 BR Mauritius 43

I am not building this boat. It was built in 1978. The owner and his family lived on her for over a decade as I understand it. 42,000 lbs. My wife wants to leave the rainy Pacific Northwest during the winters and I can't leave it alone to rust in the rain.
Marine tradesmen here charge 100+ dollars an hour. Unfortunately I'm not rich.
Thanks for the input however.
