1980 Formosa mast step question

My wife and I are living aboard a 1980 Formosa 47 in California. The mast is keel stepped. The mast is settling, or sinking. The shrouds are out of adjustment room, and still extremely loose.

The foot of the mast sits on fiberglass, and has formed a bowl shape, due to the weight of the mast.

I have heard of this happening to other sailboats, and have heard it has been repaired, but cannot find anybody that has any specifics, or cost estimates.

Does anybody know what is under the fiberglass, and/or construction specifications from the Formosa yard? Anybody that has repaired this problem? Pictures of construction, or any other information? We would appreciate learning any knowledge that can be passed along!

Thanks,

Fred

Re: 1980 Formosa mast step question

Pretty sure you'll need to pull the stick and rebuild the rotten wood structure under the fiberglass.
