316L SS bolts?

I am replacing my chainplates after completing my circumnavigation. Sure enough the chainplate for my cap stay has a fracture in it. I am able to secure 316L SS stock to fabricate new chainplates, however, I am having a real problem finding 316L SS bolts, nuts and washers. (1/2 x 3). Most places sell 316 but not 316L. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 316L SS bolts?

316 is perfectly fine for the bolts.
316L is more important when welding SS but you won't be welding the bolts.

Re: 316L SS bolts?

The “L” in 316L means low carbon. It’s to help maintain corrosion resistance after welding. It would serve no useful purpose in a bolt or nut, unless you planned to weld them. 316SS hardware will serve just fine.
