Good point - I am calling/emailing around and trying to book the space before I move the boat... I might have to just leave it in PR, but I cannot do anything in my current marina, sadly.

Re: Advice needed - DIY boatyards in Caribbean

I've updated my Wide-Beam Haulouts list to add the DIY status mentioned in this thread and added Marina Tropical in Luperon. However I've not found the maximum haul out beam for Marina Tropical. See https://torrmundi.blogspot.com/

+1 on those but materials may be tough to get in Cariacou. Taxes high in Grenada.

We haul out in Trinidad at Power Boats. They use a hydraulic trailer for wide cats. Peaks just over the fence has a wide lift. Excellent materials and supplies and very competent work if you end anything. Yacht in transit status reduces some costs. Live on your boat in the yard. Walk up stairs and platforms available. Have the boat covered and rent a big AC to keep cool. Port of Spain for air travel. OCC Port Captain, Jesse James can help with lots. Weekly transit to box stores and the open market and excellent street food along the road

Curacao Marine Zone in Curacao. Out of the hurricane belt. 3+ day sail from PR.
They allow you to live on board and work on your own boat.
Local independent guy is great with fiberglass. M&M Boatworks - Clifford Martina.

PM me for more information.

Thanks for the input - it's a bit far for me at this point (one of my engines is dead) and no mast currently... Have to be closer to PR.
Thanks anyway!

I am still on the boat; 2nd mechanic stood me up already (don't return my calls/messages, promise to show up numerous times), absolutely dishonest and unreliable...
I might have to just leave the boat for the hurricane season here. The plan now is to just find a used (or new) Volvo D2-55, ship it to PR, install it and once it's done, head to FL, get the other engine rebuilt and sell it.

If anyone knows of D2-55 for sale, please let me know!

Thanks again for all suggestions!
