Affixing G10 backing plates

I've got some G10 cut to size with chamfered edges to avoid edge point loading that I'm going to use for backing plates for some deck hardware. The PO screwed and glued a piece of marine plywood under the foredeck so I'll attach the G10 to the marine plywood. So the plan is to sand the plywood but do I need to sand the G10? And what epoxy would work marrying G10 with marine plywood? Reading through West Systems website maybe G/flex 650? Or something else? The other question is what do I use to hold the G10 to the underside of the deck while it cures? I can use the bolts for the deck hardware but I don't them epoxied to the G10. Maybe vaseline, or something else on the bolts so the epoxy won't stick? TIA

Re: Affixing G10 backing plates

Last time I did this I drilled through the G10 into the deck from the bottom, stopping short of the upper skin. Then I applied the thickened epoxy and just screwed the backing plate to the deck to hold it while curing. I didn't try to remove the screws after.

Why adhere it at all? Every backing plate I’ve ever seen is just an enormous washer, held up by the nuts and regular washers of the deck hardware.

If the underside of the deck isn't perfectly smooth and level, filling those gaps between the backing plate and deck helps to spread the load better and avoid pressure points on the deck.
