Re: Air in hydraulic steering ???

THANKS everyone. I bypassed the Helm Control and connections to the autopilot pump with two 1/2 inch hydraulic hoses. Oil all over the engine room. I'm now in the process of filling oil back and burping air.
The run from the helm pump to the RAM is in 1/2 inch ID copper pipe with the "Helm Control" and TEEs to the autopilot pump in the middle. Connections = Imperial flares.
The local GreenLine store made up the 1/2" hoses with 1/2" Imperial male flare fitting for ~C$70.00 .......... getting everything out and hoses in was heroic effort ...
LOL - something I've learned is: a 1/2 inch hydraulic hose has a 1/2 inch ID .... however a 1/2 inch Imperial flare has a 3/8 inch ID. Add $10.00 for flare adaptors.
Back to filling and burping tomorrow.

Probably too late, but:
FYI, Vancouver Rowing Club members get a significant (!) discount at Greenline.
