Aircon fan stops

Hi everyone

Having a bit of an issue with my aircon that's driving me nuts. Bad time of year in the Australian tropics to be without an aircon!

It's a crusiair marine aircon out of a 89 riviera.

The aircon runs for about an hour from first turning it on. Water flows well from the pump. Then the fan stops. The condenser stays on and the water stops pumping. We were thinking it was the fan motor as it gets really hot. U can't really touch it for longer than a second.

We had it out at a mates shop who ran it for hours with no issue. He blocked the flow to make the fan work harder aswell. He also advised that the motor will get very hot.

Put it back in with a new capacitor. Same deal .

Running out of ideas.... Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Aircon fan stops

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, vas5150.

Does the fan motor have an integral thermal overload/reset button?

Re: Aircon fan stops

Hi GordMay

The fan has a thermostat. It's what we originally thought was wrong as the fan motor gets hot and common sense says overloads the thermostat stopping the fan. But we have run the fan for hours off the unit and it ran fine.
