Amerlock 400

There is a plethora of info out there about abrasive blasting and products. I am preparing to blast below the waterline on my steel 36'. There are 2 coats of Wasser Tar from 10 yrs ago. There is no visible rust but I am noticing "pinholes" and some blistering. The original spray painter I hired did not do a thorough job (I am thinking). At the finish I noticed a lot of sediment remaining in the Wasser Tar cans. He simply said ..sorry about that. All was fine until recently noting the above. I am thinking of using 30/60 garnet as an abrasive and Amerlock 400 to finish. I understand there are no other coats, sealers etc ... just this product. I thought of using Wasser Tar again (well mixed) but the 400 seems to have good reviews. As this is an expensive and time consuming bit of kit ... I really want to get it right. Comments appreciated.... Thank you

Re: Amerlock 400

I use Amerlock 400 on my aluminum boat without problem (sorry, no experience on steel). I like the product. However, it is not fast drying. Make sure the re-coat time and immersion time work with your haul out schedule. Good luck.

Re: Amerlock 400

Thanks re drying time:

The spec sheet says 3 days 70 deg F for 1 pt (???) and 7 days for "none" (???)... confusing. I do not want to be on the hard for 7 days billing.
