Anderson 40ST Winch install - base orientation?

I'm installing 40ST winches. The bolt pattern is a semi-circle. The instructions don't reference base orientation except for the self tailer, which is adjustable. The old winches had the gap facing out. Any ideas out there?

Thanks.

Best to point the missing bolt towards the load...towards the turning block.

Best to point the stripper arm at the operators chest.

Thanks Daddle, that's what I thought too. Odd that they wouldn't spec it in the instructions....

Also check to make sure one of the drainage channels (there are probably 3 of them) is at the low point.
