Any tips for removing Kiwi Grip ?

I have large areas of Kiwi Grip to remove, are there any short cuts to make it easier.

I want to remove it and reduce the amount of deck covered with it, so I'd like a good finish where it has been removed.

Thanks
Dave

Dave, the best advice would be for you to first contact the manufacturer before seeking advice from any other source.

Short answer is ... not easy.
I had to do it in a few spots that I needed to mount hardware. The only thing that worked was a multi-tool with a scraper blade, going slow... and being careful not to do further damage. Then sand and recoat. Small spots ok, large areas need patience and lots of time. Its a good product.

Re: Any tips for removing Kiwi Grip ?

Thanks all.

I did look up Kiwi Grip web site, they say it's hard to get off, and suggest to either sand or scrap it. I was hoping someone had a cunning plan/miracle technique.

I'll just put another coat on top.

Re: Any tips for removing Kiwi Grip ?

I use a similar but industrial product (read less expensive) called Sports Cote. It is softened by several solvents, acetone being one. Would make scraping a lot easier...

Re: Any tips for removing Kiwi Grip ?

As KiwiGrip is a one component paint, I'd try carefully with a paint stripper product and scrape the rest off.

Most one component paints are susceptible to paint stripping gels.

If it works, please let us know.
