Are my seacocks alright?

These are some of the thru-hulls and seacocks on my 22-year-old Najad 331. From the color, I'd assume the thru-hulls are made of bronze, and the seacock ball valves are made of stainless steel. If there is one thing I've learned, is not to mix metals in salt water (galvanic corrosion). But I wouldn't think a reputable builder or any half-sensible previous owner would make such a basic mistake. What am I missing?

Re: Are my seacocks alright?

stainless ball valves are common in high end seacocks but the one with the rusted handle mounted at an angle would definitely be one that i'd probably want to take apart and service next time the boat is out of the water.

That said, I do not like unflanged thru-hulls due to potential side loading, though they're standard in almost all boats.

Re: Are my seacocks alright?

Are you sure they are stainless vs. plated brass?

If I were you, I would pop those off and install proper bronze ones.

Stainless and bronze allegedly play well together galvanically, but I wouldn't risk it if I weren't sure.

And I would do ones which have proper bronze or stainless handles, vs. those pressed mild steel ones.

No, those are no good, you need to replace them. Are you in the US? I think these may have British thread. You can buy proper valves with that in the US as well: https://www.groco.net/products/valve...es-bspp-thread

But it’s impossible to say which thread you have now. The choice of valves looks like the only ones they could get with the correct thread.
