Articulating Table Leg

We're looking for something we saw during our boat hunt, and we can't remember which boat had it.

Basically, it was a very robust, single leg for a saloon table, that enabled it to be offset to one side, but also swing away for easy access to under seat lockers behind, or to make it easy for getting in and out seating. It may have been able to be raised and lowered too.

It reminded me of the dentist's swing away tables that could be swung out of the way when they are trying to get both fists to the back of your throat.

Does anyone know who makes or supplies this kind of gear?

Vic

Re: Articulating Table Leg

I just bought a really nice tubular stainless steal leg from CatalinDirect. You lift the table an inch and the leg drops and can be swung and stowed to port or starboard.

It does not have a articulated knee in the center but you may be able to cut it and put an expanded sleeve in, run a bolt with an elongated hole to duplicate the action at the top of the leg.

Sounds complex and a good way for little ones to get their fingers pinched but it may work.

Their stuff looks great, and expensive!
But not really going to do the job we're looking for.

Find a local carpenter; it's good to support local private tradesman and the local economy. Also, if you find a good one, he can make you a custom table leg perfect for your requirements.

That's about the closest to what we're looking for.
The one we saw had a kind of large ball joint at the knee and was a lot more robust. Our table is a lot larger and heavier than a cockpit table, but I'll contact this mob for a chat.

Timber won't do it, but I agree about supporting the local tradesman... I have one on board a few days a week.
Bloody hell, I'm supporting the entire local economy at the moment

Re: Articulating Table Leg

Hmmm, should have added a caveat to the local economy: don't kill the golden goose by tardiness, overcharging or underperforming. That recent horrorstory about the hydraulic pumps was an eye opener...
