Automatic Sea Fire Extinguisher Replacement COST ?

Mechanic moved extinguisher.
Going into engine room too re hang extinguisher discovered it was
empty and hanging by 3 wires .
Since my purchase of boat never did it activate and was possibly empty
when I purchased and never considered checking .

Hitting West Marine & Amazon I was in Fire extinguisher shock .
Local fire extinguisher companies no help
Called Sea - Fire , my model 200 A outdated.
One time they did offer refilling but now they are not .
Saying why cant it be tested, tagged, refilled with Halon, why do I have too
purchase a newer canister ?
BUT since I am a customer, they will sell me a new model
that all I have too do is connect , at a 50 % discount. $ 550.00
Seems excessive , but typical for boating.
Newer models are refillable
Too be totally legal I have too have a tech from fire extinguisher company come down too boat, and tag unit, like a hood in a restaurant
Boat is 30 ft power cruiser , seems excessive, over kill, and no law
saying I must have a automatic fire extinguisher
Also there are 2 engines and extinguisher faces only one of the engines
I have gas fume detectors in engine room & cabin that gives off loud sounds
For now I am running with fire extinguishers mounted along deck
until I find alternate for this canister
Anybody have similar issues and found a solution other then buying new ?
