Bad mold remediation

We looked at a boat last week that had very bad mold. There was a white film on all the wood, and it reeked so bad.

Is there enough cleaning that can be done to truly get rid of it, or is it so permeated into things that it'll always be there?

Thanks

Dave

Re: Bad mold remediation

If it is surface mold then bleach, bleach and more bleach. Then you have to wash with clean water and dry.

If it is rot that is a whole different scenario.

Re: Bad mold remediation

Consider the mold in the places you cannot see. It will be difficult or impossible to clean effectively and will likely continue to contribute new mold spores and smell, maybe forever.

Jamhass,

Yes sir. That is what troubles me. Cleaning the exposed surfaces is not that difficult, but I suspect you'll never get the smell out because of the hundreds of places you can't or only can get to with extreme effort.
