Re: BD35 FRIDGE troubleshooting

Hi thumbs up.

Yes your system could have a blockage, if it does buying a new fridge may be your best option , cost a tech may just as much and you will still have an old fridge . The bd35 and its controller have good value , you could remove it from the fridge and sell it on eBay for a couple of hundred bucks .
To measure inrush current you may need something like an oscilloscope . It only lasts a millisecond.

Hope this helps a bit .

Regards John

Re: BD35 FRIDGE troubleshooting

Most inverters will handle a pretty large current draw for a sec or two, for more than that a Kill-a-watt will work well. I doubt it’s inrush is as high as you think, usually any multi speed device starts at low speed and then the speed is ramped up.
If your concerned, then get a kilowatt inverter, they aren’t that much more, and it may be nice to have enough oomph to run other devices

Re: BD35 FRIDGE troubleshooting

This is a follow up on my fridge problem: I had a leak in the condenser coil. I parted out my other unit to fix it and it is all good now but am still interested in anybody's experiences running the new "inverter" fridges off of a small pure sine wave inverter (morningstar 300)

Re: BD35 FRIDGE troubleshooting

Thanks for the follow up . Lucky you had a spare fridge on hand . Did you have solder evacuate and recharge, or did you just swap out the complete system ?

Regards John

Re: BD35 FRIDGE troubleshooting

We soldered evacuated and recharged. It is working much better than it had been, I think it must have been on a slow decline and I didn't realize. Or the new condenser and fresh fan that I added is removing the heat much better.
