Beneteau teak decks, early 2000's

Does anyone have experience with the above? Did they simply glue them down, or are there screws that penetrate the deck below? What are the options when they wear out?

If I remember correctly they started to glue them without screws from 2010, but I am not sure.

I emailed customer service at Beneteau and got a reply that they were both glued and screwed.

Oceanis 50 2015, not a single screw, all glued.
If yours is pre-2010 it may be with screws.

The only option when the teak is worn and the screws are starting to show is to replace the teak, or remove it and paint or gelcoat.

You also have the fake teak, another option.

I understand 423s and 473s with teak decks were screwed and glued. I think 423s and 473s were built starting around 2002. Here is one experience

and another

If you are thinking to change it, a good alternative to teak could be cork

- Cheaper, but not so much as expected, because the major part of the cost is removing the hardware and getting the old one out, so the material has little effect on it
- Easier (much easier) to clean and maintain
- Excellent thermal insulation, and excellent grip (as the teak, maybe more)

Surely less elegant than teak, but more than gelcoat, and more than most of the fake teak on market, even if gelcoat is the cheapest solution.

Re: Beneteau teak decks, early 2000's

Removed teak deck from my 473 last year, (built 2001), glued and screws.
Estimated 3000 screws removed in the process.
Replaced with Tek Dek, very happy with end result.Click image for larger version

First 47.7 2001, screwed and glued.
Oceanis 46 ft 1998 screwed and glued. BTW owner logged hours to remove it all and it was 500 hours. But no delamination issues after all that. End result is great with gelcoat and non-skid.

I’ve been told, later boats with teak decks switched from screws in the rabbit to brad nailers. Haven’t confirmed.

Look at yours again because I see multiple screw locations on the outer and inner planks in your picture. The planks in the middle are glued, but the inboard-most and outboard-most planks in this photo are definitely screwed down.
