I use the black model of the HF nearly every day in my business and have had no problems what so ever. For the price,if it quits working, I wold toss it. Never buy the replacement contacts on their products. Currently using it on myBristol34 restoration "project". No concerns.

Re: Best Alternative Multi-Tool ?

Fein variable speed. I've killed many over the years but accept no substitutes. Of course the boss pays for mine, which is nice since it's about $80 for the carbide abrasive bell-housing cutoff disc I like....

Re: Best Alternative Multi-Tool ?

Have had my Fein for 4 yrs now through two different project boats. There is at least one manufacterer producing blades for the Fein that are just as durable but at half the cost. Got a pretty good bank for my buck from my old Rotozip too... they are doing more these days with the multi tool idea.

Re: Best Alternative Multi-Tool ?

Jim, As in all things in life: Quality or Price? It's your call. I have had my Fein for two years and it paid for itself on my first job. German quality and engineering. Highly recommended. Good luck and good sailing, Ron

One of the best purchases I have made was my Fein.
