Sorry, but I don't see the problem. My post might be helpful to someone at some time, that's all. You are welcome to ignore it.

Cheers!

The necro ending made a boring thread worthwhile.

Reminds me of my favorite joke, “How many boating forum posts does it take to decide what type screw to use?”

Well, how did the generator get attached? How did it work out over all these years? I read this whole thread top to bottom even though it’s six years old. Ha ha

Used lag bolts to attach plywood generator base to the boat. The mounting lasted, the generator didnt

Re: Best screws for fiberglass

Check out t-nuts and bolts. They were recommended to me for mounting my water maker membranes. You drill through the the bolt size and the t-nut goes in the back and the bolt goes through the front. If you can't get to under the fiberglass, you can use 3M 4200/5200 or West System six10 to glue the plywood base; make certain you put tape over the t-nuts or the adhesive will get in the t-nut grooves.

I painted the plywood with a couple of coats of white gloss paint. Drilled the holes for the membrane mount, inserted the t-nuts and taped the back closed. I used West System six10 epoxy to glue the board against the back cockpit locker / interior of the hull. The key is to carefully measure the length of the bolts so they do not impinge on the backing.
