Best Sealant for Bomar Hatch?

I have bomar hatches on my older Pearson 422. The glue that holds the top/lens to the metal frame is deteriorating and the hatch is leaking. i am looking for suggestions on how to get the lens/top the rest of the way out of the frame without damaging it and what is the best sealant to use to put it back in. Thanks in advance.
