ok what you see is the bottom of my boat. the white is nice smooth gel coat. there is a layer of red anti foul and then a layer or two of black bottom paint. it seems the anti foul is just not sticking to the gel coat. don't see any blisters, just nice smooth gel coat. So should I try and sand the paint off to the gel coat and just go back with bottom paint or should I bite the bullet and pay a pro to take it down to the gel coat and repaint with the antifoul and barrier? I've gotten one quote to just knock off all the unattached paint and just redo with bottom paint for about 1400... And then I have a quote to soda blast and redo the bottom with the two type for about 7000. 60 ft boat..

Re: Bottom paint, again

Looks like a skip sand commission to me. Pretty common. I would remove all bottom paint to the gel, apply barrier coat, and bottom paint. Consider paying someone to do the bottom paint removal and then save money by doing all the coating yourself, it's easy. You'll save a lot of money too.

The one guy the boat yard uses to soda blast charges 3500. I thought that was a little much and way outside the budget.

It's a little high in my opinion, but not by too much. Wouldn't expect less than 3k for a bottom your size. If sanding is possible in your area and you can find someone good who is willing to do just that part it will save you bucks. Or there's always the DIY option...
