Re: Broken seacock valve handle

It's interesting in that the 2 main types of Groco seacocks/valves are of different internal construction.
The "Inline valve" type that screws onto the flange adapter, (IBV series,) has a chrome plated brass ball, whilst the integral flange type, (BV series,) uses a stainless ball/shaft.
The handles are of different persuasion too.
I can see that there are +/- to both styles.
Of course, now that Wilcox-Crittenden is no more it seems that the only true all bronze/tapered plug seacock is the Spartan, at quite high cost.

It is just cost savings. BV series are great valves they also come with a significant pricetag.

The only non-cost advantage to the IBV is that if the valve every fails/siezes you can replace just the valve and keep the flange. However a BV series valve that is regularly maintained will last 40+ years. If anything did fail it is likely the ball seat and they sell replacement parts.

Spartans are nice but not sure they are double a BV in price nice.

Still anything is better than an unsupported brass ball-valve pretending to be a seacock.

Re: Broken seacock valve handle

+1 for Trudesign. They don't corrode and they don't have to be exercised.
