Cabin sole subfloor

I need to replace my sub floor in the main salon. It's only approximately about 60 sqft. Locally 4x8 3/4in marine grade plywood is $150 a sheet. Same size starboard is $200. We are going to use plasteak vinyl over that. Will the glue adhere to the starboard?

I do not know of anything that really sticks to starboard. I would recommend high grade non marine plywood and seal with epoxy. You could add 1 gallon of epoxy to a regular sheet of plywood and have a WAY better piece of plywood for way less money.
Marine grade plywood will still rot, don’t get caught up in the words “ marine grade”.

Douglas Fir sheathing grade is a good substitute for this application.

Starboard will warp over time unless supposed every few inches. And nothing sticks to it well either. It's not the product for this job.
