It is probably a minor issue at this point but I need to take a polite difference of opinion with Schooner1905 even though he is a relatively new poster. My apologies, Schooner1905, but IMHO commercial operators do not get the benefit of the doubt in a collision or other event at sea. It has been my experience that as a commercial operator, I was held to a higher and more responsible level of performance than an unlicensed operator because of my training and maritime experience as so I should.
My heart goes out to the couple who were involved in the collision and I can't imagine the heartbreak of trying to sort out the aftermath of surveys, insurance, liability and particularly the loss of their home. I only hope everything works out for you and you can look back a couple of years from now with a happier point of view.
By the way... welcome to CF Schooner1905... your opinion is valued here.
