Cinkel throttle heip

On my Sceptre 36 you have to pull the throttle lever back to increase speed. This is opposite to the direction on the throttle lever. I would like to have it reversed to agree with the laballing on the lever. I have looked inside the pedestal and can not see how to reverse it. It is connected to a Yanmar deseil engine and the connection appears to be correct.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Weird huh? You might need to live with it. I don't remember the details but I don't think there is anything you can do inside the pedestal to change the direction. The cable clamp inside is on one side of the arm and there is not much room to do anything about it.

If it can't be reversed in the pedestal, it can certainly be reversed at the engine. You may have to fabricate a new bracket so the cable mounts on the opposite side of the lever, or it may be possible to anchor the cable jacket on the throttle lever and the inner cable on the bracket to reverse the throw.

Without a better description of the current setup, suggestions are difficult...

I looked into that. The easy way would be a longer cable and they cost a bunch. Strange, it drove me crazy and my wife didn't care. I ended up putting a new set of controls on the side of the cockpit.

Re: Cinkel throttle heip

Guy,

Does this mean that a new cable cost more than a new set of controls?

Just curious.
