Cleaning Sanded Coppercoat

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

I spent this weekend sanding the old coppercoat, and I am planning to use Hempel Light Primer and Hempel Mille as the antifouling, as recommended for the waters I am sailing in.

I have a possibly silly question: is it advisable to clean it with pressure water, or would it be better to use an alternative product?

I have attached a few pictures of the sanding job, but there is still plenty of copper powder remaining.

Thank you very much to all.

Re: Cleaning Sanded Coppercoat

sorry, but no pics ...
use high pressure water, no problem (except on an old wooden hull)
let dry long enough
respect deadlines between layers, as on technical sheets
(I use also Hempel Mille, good ..)

Off topic but Im curious... since you're back to regular antifoul, how "old" is your coppercoat and how well did it perform?

Why are you overcoating the Coppercoat? And since you are, what difference does it make if the Coppercoat has copper remaining?

Hi to everybody

Many thanks for the repplies

I paint over the coppercoat because the guy i bought for did not know when was done, i have to change the seacocks and was some patches than where no good.

In the end i sand the boat, apply hempel light primer and Hempel mille with tru design seacocks and was good. You can see images here
