Cockpit Inspection Hatches

Has anyone used the typical "Bomar" deck mounted inspection hatches? I would like to add two hatches in my cockpit floor, one over the quadrant and one over the top of the diesel tank. The cockpit is balsa cored, do these type of plastic hatches holdup to constat traffic and remain water proof? Any suggestions or alternative?

Re: Cockpit Inspection Hatches

I would be thinking along the lines of stainless steels inspection hatches if there is a lot of traffic?

This Freeman deck hatch might be what you require. https://www.fisheriessupply.com/free...iftout-hatches

If you want access to the quadrant I suspect it could be for emergency steering purposes. Maybe some marine carpet would protect the plastic hatch.

The hatch over the diesel tank could be a sheet of acrylic bolted in?
