Color match

I'm giving my tired old boat some cosmetic love. I believe the sheer strip (and boot stripe) were painted with Awlgrip Aristo Blue and I'm hoping someone could recommend a paint that would both be cheaper and easier to apply than awlgrip but as close to the same color as possible. Comparing little squares of blue on a computer monitor is tough!

Thanks!

Re: Color match

As any semi-serious user of PhotoShop or LightRoom can tell you, comparing colors on a computer is a lost cause. There are too many possible color mixes, and too many Kelvins, and too many different screens, and.... Instead, figure out a way to get a paint chip, the larger the better, and take it to a paint dealer such as Sherwin-Williams. They have databases of other company's paints, and the ability to match your paint. Yes, S-W does make marine paints, and the prices are not quite as bad as when the label has "Yacht" in it.

I too wanted to get away from Awlgrip, and found that Rustoleum Marine Coatings Topside Paint, gloss navy blue, is very very close to Aristo Blue.

Fair winds,
