Companionway lock

I'm looking for a companionway lock something like what is shown in the picture. The one on my Jeanneau 40DS not adequate, as you can just lift the slider over the doors to get in! I got this picture from the zarcor site, but they haven't responded to a couple emails about this lock setup. Does anyone know where else I might pick something like this up?

Re: Companionway lock

Is that a normal screw holding the locking plate in? Seems pretty easy to remove

Re: Companionway lock

There are no fastenings of any kind exposed when it's locked.

I might be misunderstanding the other parts but the actual key lock is a simple "Cam Lock", they are readily available most places, (Hardware's, locksmiths) the plate and handle should be easily fabricated or purchased.

The tail on these locks are not very strong and can be bent out of the way without much effort. You should fit an additional support plate to support the tail if effort is put on the door (I have assumed the door (shown black behind the cast handle) slides towards us when unlocked or the door is the on the RHS of the pic). It should also have a plate to resist the whole lock from turning if a screw driver is placed in the key hole and forced.

Re: Companionway lock

Dave, those are great points. I was thinking of having another aluminum plate to sandwich the tab on the cam lock. I've seen the cam locks in our local hardware store, but not the hatch pulls. I figured that someone on CF would know where to get them!
