Luckily I don’t live in the Netherlands and have no locks, canals or “rough” docks to scratch my boat. Marinas around here are almost always in great condition and when my boat is not being used, she lives on a swing mooring. Plus, I discovered fenders, they work well.

I also USE my boat and right now, after 13 years of ownership, I have no significant scratches other than one self-inflicted scratch on the transom from loading heavy stuff off the dingy. Hence no reservations about changes in colour.

Use a good two part polyurethane paint,,,,,Awlgrip, Sherwin Williams, Alexceal.

A neighbor in our mooring field vinyl-wrapped his boat. Dings become bubbles. Bubbles become tears. Edges get ragged... After a couple of seasons it is starting to look somewhat shabby.
