Crevice Corrosion in Freshwater?

i have heard a lot about crevice corrosion of stainless steel, especially of the keel bolts. How many have seen this to be a problem in freshwater? According to this paper:

crevice corrosion is more of a problem in salt water than fresh, and more of a problem with 304 stainless than 316. In the real world is this a common problem in freshwater?

It can happen, but it's highly unlikely. You need a high concentration of salt water for crevice corrosion to occur. In Saltwater this happens from water droplets as the water evaporates and the remaining salt water becomes hyper concentrated.
