Cross connect water heaters on a cat?

Our catamaran has two waters heaters. Recently the starboard heater that supplies the kitchen and stbd hull began leaking. Parts will take about two weeks to arrive. My question is, all cold water lines are cross connected to both hulls but not the hot lines. I'd like to cross connect them for redundancy but wonder if there was reason for not connecting. Thanks.

Re: Cross connect water heaters on a cat?

None at all. Cross connect at will. Include valves that let you feed the starboard uses with the port tank alone, and vice versa. Then you can redirect not just to overcome a failure, but to get hot water from wherever it's available, as in when the Admiral uses all the hot warter in one side for a shower, and the other person is....left in the cold.
