CSY 33 modifications

Hey Dag,

What is that window mod you made to the fwd port on your boat?

Also wondering about the Rub-rail Mod where you added two cleats and rub rails. What was access like underneath and what backing did you use? Any p[ix from underneath? I'd really like to do that on mine as tying in through the scuppers is not the best lead to the dock.

Also looking at your prop, seems our caculations came out pretty similar. You have 16x10.5 and I have 16x10.

Hard to see out of the dark plexiglass, so I cut an opeing and bolted on a clear piece of plexi. Also installed a compass on the inside and using the autopilot remote control I now have a poor man's pilot-house..

Did that last year and never really tried to steer from the inside position yet. For rainy days only and way off shore with little traffic.

Previous owner added the spring cleats and the bow cleats. There is either backing plates or big fender washers underneat, can't remember.
I added the SS rubrail last year, about 18' on each side.

Yeah, been tweaking the prop(s) over the years and finally came to the present prop as the optimum for my use. (Others may prefer a folding or feathering prop, and I belive 1/2 under sail can be gained with an Autoprop)

Oh, I see. you have dark plexi all around. Guess that's essential down there in the sunny state.

Do you have the design specs for the arch and bimini? Or close ups of the joints, pictures underneath the covering showing structure? I need to do those next year. At least, the bimini, arch could wait.

No design specs, but I can certain shoot a few pics and send ya.
A good canvas maker should be able to do you the tubing as well as the fabric.

Yeah, dark plexiglass all around the boat is good for sun/heat protection, and also act as storm-shutters in case ya get a breaking wave over the boat. Previous owner did the dark plexi, but I replaced all panels last year as they fade in the sun after 15 years exposure or so.

Ron S. is putting together a web page with a lot of modifications and upgrades to all CSY boats: I sent him 20 pictures lately and he should have the page up and running soon.
