CT 56 refit

I just thought I would share a few pictures of some of the work we are doing. Thought it might be of some interest.

Laminated teal bowsprit is a beauty. She is coming together now. Almost done painting the cabin top and bulwarks. Starting to sand back topsides and Hull. Hope I beat the heavy rains but we are lucky so far.

We are over in Satun, Thailand at PSS shipyard.

Caulking the deck was a big job. We have a good team here.

Re: CT 56 refit

Sanding back the Undercoat on the cabin top and bulwarks getting ready for that beautiful finish.

Ran into a snag on the sprit because I can't find an 1 1/4 forstner bit.

Curious to know if you had to have the grooves re-grooved? If so, what did yall use for that?

The teak decks were new in 2010 and the teak is fine. The best tool for cleaning out the grooves is the Fein caulking removal tool. Then reefing tools and sand paper to clean. We used Fixtech DC to cauld the decks prepping the joints with their primer. Let's hope we get 20 years this time.

The manufacturer says it won't break down like the Sika which bled like crazy whenever it was cleaned. Greater elasticity as well.

Those Fein tools are fantastic and reduce the labour by over 50%. Work great for cleaning up edges where the joints are too tight as well. Perfect tool for decaulking paint edges as well.

A few more pics of the continuing work on the boat. Getting ready to apply the Undercoat to the topsides after sanding back the primer coats.

Re: CT 56 refit

Building a new cockpit table. We managed to find teak wide enough to make it out of one piece. Except the fiddles or course.

Re: CT 56 refit

Two coats of high build Undercoat applied over the primer. Start sanding for the finish coat tomorrow. Top coats next week.

Looks like a ghost ship now.

Looks great.
Hope I am not being too nosey, but what are labor rates over there?
