Deck separation from Hull

i have a Oday 240 cruiser with what i discovered is a 30 inch section of the deck that has separated from the hull on the starboard beam. I am seeking advice on repair and methods to ensure no structural flaws and no leaks
Deck is made of FG Balsa FG on a FG hull.
Boat was manufactured 8 of 88
I was told that an epoxy patch fill inside and out would be sufficient. Any thoughts and advice.

We'd need pics, & or, a description of the joint, & how it's constructed, in order to offer up proper recommendations. Just glassing over the leaking area likely isn't a good solution, for many reasons. Including that it's likely that the rest of the joint, all the way around the boat's perimeter, is aging, & greatly weakend. And thus ripe for leaks or seperation in other areas.

Re: Deck separation from Hull

If the hull-deck joint was just glued all the way around, with no mechanical fasteners, and no local damage to cause the separation?

As he said, you have to suspect the entire joint, which could mean pulling up the entire deck and rebedding it. Short of that...sure, you can try prying apart that section, cleaning it out (mechanically and chemically) and re-bonding it. 3M 5200 might do just as well as epoxy would. It is structural bond, once it has fully cured. You'd probably eed to add mechanical fasteners or improvise clamps to keep the joint tight while anything was curing.

Some pis, i am sure the separation was caused by not reassembling the stay bolt shown back to the hull after it was rebedded. found the loose nut in the bulk head. note the wood rot on the edge of the hull covered in fiberglass resin. need to replace about 4 feet then re seat the hull deck connection and then tighten the stay bolt to bring hull and deck together. Any other straps around the hull worth it? i checked around the join in other areas of the boat and it was all tight , no sign of water seepage. Now the ? how should i proceed.
