Depth not appearing. A bit baffled.

Old boat, I have Stowe gauges from about 1991. All work and everything BUT the depth gauge registers.

I had an electronics guy come buy and we have a language barrier. He just looks at things and says too old, no parts.

As to the depth gauge, too old no parts, cant be replaced with new gauge the electronics systems are not compatible with modern devices.

This boat is in the water largely because the repair company cannot follow instructions.

Does his pronouncement make any sense?

It may be important, the bottom has just been coppercoated.

I suspect that the Coppercoat is NOT [part of] your problem.
Coppercoat is paint is a water-based, two-part, hard epoxy paint, with super-fine [non-conductive] copper powder, suspended in the cured resin.
The application instructions* say nothing about applying Coppercoat to transducers.
