Good point, but I don’t think I’ll ever be as well defined as the lady in the video.

Re: DIY inflatable boat tubes

I’ve woken up thinking I really like the idea of Mr B’s cheap and cheerful inflatable tubes on my current excellent fibreglass hull.

Mr B, any chance you could post a photo of how they’ve attached the tubes to the floor?

Already done. They are pretty close according to the web site specs.

But I’ll call them on Monday to talk it thorough. Not sure how they’d respond. I mean, a sale is a sale, right? But selling it to someone who is gonna take to it with a Stanley knife might make them a little uncomfortable.

Seriously, at under $1k, I’d be happy to replace them every three or four years. Anything to keep my rather excellent hull.

Re: DIY inflatable boat tubes

Matt,

It is 4 peices the floor. A front bow shaped piece and 3 square aluminium sections that clip together,
They have an Aluminium block running along on each side that keeps the floor rigid,

Its quite a solid little boat, 40 Kgs, I rowed it down the Marina to my boat,

Im not sure what your after,
But I still have the solid fibreglass floor out of my old dinghy and the Pontoons from it,

Cheers, Brian,

Re: DIY inflatable boat tubes

Thanks mate, that’s a good help.

I’ll chat to them on Monday, and I’ll also follow ups a few people I know who have Island Inflatable dinks. Some of those are getting on to five years old now, so that will be useful data, plus Island have a distributor here in Adelaide so I can go and assess the feasibility of my idea more thoroughly.

The island brand is a little more expensive at $1300, but still good value.

Err, so you meant hypalon, but had a brain f--t? Not to worry, happens to all of us.

Fwiw, I think there are more good glues for hypalon than pvc. Strongly recommend conveyor belt glue, Rema Tip Top SC 4000 is as good as the SC 2000 was. Catalyst keeps well in fridge.

Re: DIY inflatable boat tubes

Got a recommendation for PVC glue? I really think I am going to end up going down the path of converting a Big Duck or Island inflatable, and both are PVC.
