Dustless anti-foul removal

So, my boat had CSC when I bought it over 3 yrs ago. How old at time of purchase unknown (my bad) but the sea velcro grows fast these days so time for a haul out.
Rather than just roll over old I intend to remove as I have no idea how many layers are there.
I'm lazy gonna' pay someone to, - see thread title.
Question is does process drive moisture into hull and how long to dry b 4 barrier coating if I choose?
Thanks......

You have to read the cans of the products you'll be using to determine the drying times. A lot of time can be spent waiting for chemicals to finish what they're doing, so organizing the dryings for time efficiency will help keep costs down, cutting down on lay days.

Micron CSC is an ablative paint, so after three years it's not likely there's much left to worry about. Unless you are using high pressure water jets, how would stripping old paint off drive water into the hull?

The main problem I see with that is that boatyards get to say what contractors and procedures can be used. This cuts them out of $150 per hour x 40+ hours.

I have seen Aqua Strip mentioned in CF and elsewhere. I am thinking about doing a trial test, first on a patch on the keel, then another on the hull. They claim no harm to gelcoat. The question for me is if will eat into the barrier coat.

Epoxy barrier coat is much, much harder than gel-coat.

Ask me how I know!

Re: Dustless anti-foul removal

If the blasting leaves the barrier coat untouched, how would any moisture get into the hull?

Re: Dustless anti-foul removal

Because there's no barrier coat? That I know of. See OP.
