Epoxy sealer for aluminium

Can anyone recommend an epoxy ( or other ) based sealer that would work on aluminium frames in a bilge situation.

Re: Epoxy sealer for aluminium

Aluminium relies on oxygen to protect itself via aluminium oxide, once you change that relationship you must maintain the protection which is difficult.

If you are concerned about corrosion seek out a product called BoeShield, it's a coating designed for internal wing surfaces on airplanes, great for outboards, seriously ally is best left to fend for itself unless acids or alkalis are involved.

Old paint or filth are the enemies where crap accumulates and creates cells where corrosion gets going BECAUSE oxygen is depleted from it...

You might look at a product called Nyalic. The US rep (& Nyalic president?) is Skip Hawkins. The Aussi rep is Jeff Melville. There's also a NZ rep.

Bonding epoxy to aluminum is a neat trick, as the epoxy won't stick well to aluminum oxide, & aluminum oxidizes immediately. However, I've published a method that works reasonably well on our Epoxy Page.
